A pioneer product idea.
In 2012 the TGD scientific team had already started performing experimental research projects and screenings on various essentials oils and their ability to counteract gut dysbiosis, different metabolic syndromes and inflammatory diseases. Geraniol’s efficacy in fighting off gut dysbiosis proved to be the biggest and the idea for a food supplement based on the particular essential oil was born.
From research to production.
In 2014, with the assistance of University of Bologna, the research team enters the Emilia-Romagna Start Cup competition with this initial project idea and wins it -allowing the team to form their company, Targeting Gut Disease. Going forward, two Business Angels become shareholders and enable the first BIOintestil® production.
Clinically tested.
Based on preclinical scientific studies and a pilot clinical trial on patients with IBS which was conducted at the Department of Clinical Medicine of the S. Orsola Hospital, University of Bologna and the Department of Clinical and Experimental Sciences at the Spedali Civili in Brescia, a teaching hospital in Lombardy with over 1500 beds, BIOintestil® is able to positively modulate the intestinal microbiota, reduce abdominal swelling and regularise the intestine.
The data have been further confirmed in a double-blind placebo-controlled trial conducted in the same hospitals.
BIOintestil®
BIOintestil® is developed as a raw material to be used alone or in combination in other food supplements. As a raw material, the product is sold in the form of hygroscopic powder.
BIOintestil® Complex
BIOintestil® Complex is the ready-made food supplement to be used directly from consumers, in the form of capsules containing 400mg of Biointestil®.
